The Jordanian Atomic Energy Commission was established at the beginning of 2008 as a successor to the Jordanian Nuclear Energy Authority, in order to transfer, develop and promote the peaceful uses of nuclear energy. The work of the Atomic Energy Commission is focused on two main axes: the project to build a nuclear power plant for the production of electricity and desalination of water using nuclear reactors, and the project to exploit the natural natural resources located in Jordan, primarily uranium.
The Authority is working to implement the comprehensive vision and strategy of the program of peaceful nuclear energy and the application of various stages to the production of electricity using nuclear reactors and use as a main source of water desalination.
The Authority pays special attention to building and supporting leading human resources, scientific and technical resources, and qualifying Jordanian cadres and capabilities in various sciences and nuclear disciplines and their applications through grants, missions, seminars, scientific programs and specialized training.
It also works to lay the technical foundations for the extraction of nuclear materials, the manufacture of heavy water and the establishment of the facilities and facilities necessary for the extraction and mining of these elements, in addition to the establishment of investment projects, including the establishment of companies in the field of nuclear energy applications and management such as power plants, desalination and the establishment of nuclear reactors and reactors for peaceful purposes And radiation technology.
