The establishment of the Ministry of Environment and Climate Affairs, on the ninth of September 2007 under the Royal Decree No. (90/2007), and after the march of environmental work went through several organizational stages and structure, where was the beginning of her career in the creation of the Environmental Protection Office of the Adviser in 1974, and was of the most prominent tasks re-establishment and development of the Arabian Oryx into their natural habitats project.
The Ministry of Environment and Climate Affairs as one of the government agencies that are responsible for the development of plans and programs for the protection of the environment and conservation of natural resources through the application of its policy to ensure the safety of the environment and the fight against pollution and the preservation of the various ecosystems within the framework of the basic objectives of sustainable development and the protection of wildlife and nature conservation and the preservation of renewable resources and work the sustainable exploitation, in addition to working on the monitoring and evaluation of climate change in coordination with the concerned authorities to avoid many of the potential impacts of climate change on natural, economic and social systems, through a willingness to manage the risks of climate change by taking action and the preparation of national strategies to reduce greenhouse gas emissions, and other concerned to adapt to those impacts to counter potential risks in this regard.
