The first industrial estate in the Sultanate of Oman was established at Al Rusayl in the year 1983. As new industrial estates were set up, the Public Establishment for Industrial Estates (PEIE) was formed a decade later to give substantial impetus to industrial development in the country. Since then PEIE has transformed into an organisation with a vision to enhance Oman’s position as a leading regional centre of manufacturing, ICT, innovation and entrepreneurship excellence. Attracting a wide variety of investments, introducing advanced technologies, human resources development, productivity enhancement, developing international trade, and boosting exports are all now part of PEIE’s mission. All these efforts play a significant role in achieving the strategic objectives of Oman’s “Vision 2020".
