The project's scope of work involves the construction of a metro network located in Abu Dhabi.
Abu Dhabi Metro is a planned metro line that will be part of a larger transit network for the city of Abu Dhabi. It includes a metro system (70km), phase I (18 km), underground network (5 km), 17 stations, 80m rolling stock, ancillary buildings, civil works, air-conditioned stations and boarding platforms, bridges, intersections, inner bypass routes, headways and associated facilities.
The entire transit network will be 131 kilometres long when complete, including an 18-kilometre (11 miles) underground metro line, two light rail lines and bus rapid transit. Phase 1 of the network (60 kilometres (37 miles)) should be completed by 2020, with a further (70 kilometres (43 miles)) in later phases.
The metro will mainly connect the proposed Central Business District with Sowwah Island, Reem Island, Saadiyat Island, Yas Island, Abu Dhabi International Airport and Masdar, Capital City District, Emerald Gateway, Zayed Sports City and ADNEC.
