The Tangier Med port complex was constructed on a central artery of global shipping; over 200 vessels a day pass through the Straits of Gibraltar as they carry trade between Asia, Europe, Africa and the Americas. The Tangier-Med Phase I container terminal is owned and operated by APM Terminals in partnership with the Moroccan Akwa Group and was opened in July 2007. Primarily a transshipment hub, APM Terminals Tangier is today the leading container operator in the port of Tanger-Med which is projected to become the largest port in Africa.
A world-class facility within a deep water port handling the largest Container vessels in service and with minimum deviation from the Major Shipping Lanes supported by high levels of consistent productivity, APM Terminals Tangier is positioned to deliver.
Gateway cargo to the hinterland is now permissible either via feeder or by rail/road directly from the Container terminal to all major destinations such as Casablanca, Rabat, Marrakech and others.
